Peregrine Falcons Hatch On Earth Day in San Jose

Three Peregrine falcons hatched sometime between 3 and 6AM today. There is at least one egg still waiting to hatch.

The parents are named Clara and Carlos.

You can watch them at the "Live Falcon Cam"take turns feeding the chicks and keeping the eggs and chicks warm.

Last year, with Papa Jose, Clara gave birth to three fledglings that students named Spirit, Esperanza and Hiko. The birds were banded and Esperanza has been spotted at the Siebel building in Emeryville. Peregrine falcons usually mate for life. Jose, typical of many relationships in the Silicon Valley, vanished, but Clara selected Carlos as her new mate.
